Look What I Can Do!

I generally start my youngest students out with just one hand. The first week we introduce the right hand, and the left hand is introduced the second week. I emphasize that soon they will be able to play with both hands. About 50% of the time, by the time I introduce hands together they tell me they have already tried it at home, and they sit there and "show off" with both hands. They couldn't do that if they had to learn the staff first.

Amazing!

I can't believe the difference a simple warm-up book made. My child now practices every day and is playing things that she thought impossible just last month. Wow!

Motivation Anyone?

I had a parent come to me with a young boy who really had a gift for playing, but due to his age and energy she was very concerned that no one could motivate him to develop these gifts. I showed them Finger Olympiad and the idea of earning a medal was very exciting to him! Within just a few months he had earned his first medal, and then his second. Even better, the time he spent earning them gave him a very solid foundation in his playing and technique.
